Takama-ga-hara (高天原), literally "the Plain of High Heavens", is where the Gods dwell. It is believed to be connected to the Earth by the bridge Ama-no uki-hashi (the "Floating Bridge of Heaven").

Only Gods who have a Shrine are allowed to ascend to Takamagahara. This is something Yato aspired to do someday and he accomplished his dream when Hiyori offers him his own shrine. Yato is given a small plot of land in Takamagahara as a result. Bishamon, in contrast, has an enormous fortress built on her plot of land.

Even though Kofuku has her own shrine, Ebisu made her sign a legal agreement banning her from the sacred land after the disaster she caused that 'popped the bubble' of the Bubble Era.
