The Ooharai Arc is the 8th canon arc of the ノラガミ Noragami series by Adachitoka. It spans chapters 92 to 99 of the manga. It has no anime adaptations.

Summary

After confronting Yato during the dawn of the Great Purification, Father faces Amaterasu head on. Meanwhile, Hagusa gets progressively more lost in his past and Yato desperately tries to save him.

Story Impact

• Yuka Miyaike reads her brother Haruki's last letter to her, realizing in the process that Haruki had died before they could meet again.
• The lead-up to and moment of Yukine's death is revealed.
• Father is confronted by the gods Amaterasu has called upon to deal with the Crafter: Shinatsuhiko, Yatagarasu, Kagutsuchi, and Ōkuninushi.
  • The Stray returns to Father's side when called.
    • Hiyori realizes that for a mizuko like her, being given a name is like being given a life.
    • Ōkuninushi is injured and many shinki are affected by Liberation, including those of Shinatsuhiko and Kagutsuchi.
• Father confronts Amaterasu.
  • Yatagarasu is killed by Chiki and many more shinki are struck by Liberation.
  • Father states that he's a "necessarily evil" but Amaterasu rebukes him, saying that Yato is the necessary one.
  • Amaterasu revokes most of the Stray's names, with the exception of "Mizuchi," demonstrating that names given by the Word are bound by the laws of Yomi and cannot be taken by Amaterasu.
  • Hagusa opens many vents after hearing the Stray's cries. Mass chaos ensues, while Father's ayakashi swarm the people below.
• Ebisu and Takemikazuchi arrive at the island of Tamatsuki.
  • They meet the Grave-keeper Satō and his family. He tells them the story of the "Mask-Maker."
  • Father became intrigued by the Word in Yomi and learned of the ways of the Far Shore from Izanami.
  • The pockmarked woman seen in Father's memories is revealed to be named "Kaya".
• The cracks in Yukine's name advance when Yukine finds his sister and fully realizes that he is dead. He responds to Yato's call of his name, reverts from "Hagusa" to human form, and falls out of the sky into his arms.

Abilities & Terms Introduced

• Amaterasu's name revocation: Amaterasu is able to revoke any shinki's name as long as they have not been named by the Word, even if they do not belong to her.
• Immunity to Amaterasu's name revoke: Shinki named by the Word cannot have their names revoked by Amaterasu, as they are bound by the laws of Yomi.
