The Goodness Net ( (ぜん) (もう) Zenmō?) is an ability specific to Hagusa when he is in his vessel form under Father. It has been shown to have a diverse set of purposes, and a wide enough range to span over their city.

Applications[]

  • Human Influence: As its name implies, the Goodness Net can motivate humans into action when they notice someone in need or are witness to cruel or unfair acts.[1] Hagusa describes this ability as trusting in humans' goodwill and allowing them to enforce divine retribution against those who deserve it.[2]
  • Offensive/Defensive Maneuvers: The Goodness Net can be used offensively to damage both the Near Shore and beings of the Far Shore. This includes sending out the net for far-range attacks,[3] as well as metamorphosing Yuuki's body parts for closer-range attacks.[4]
  • Entrapment: It can be used to entrap gods or other shinki.[5]
  • Flight: The staff and net can also be used as a mode of flight for himself[2] and his master.[6]

Restrictions[]

  • According to Father, the Goodness Net net is "full of holes". In certain instances, the humans influenced by Hagusa punish the wrongdoer, but fail to correct the original problem. For example, affected humans reprimand someone for littering a cigarette instead of putting it out properly, yet leave the cigarette on the ground anyway. In other cases, affected humans act out in violence or vandalism.[2]
